UPDATED: Sharks Beat Canucks 4-2

Tonight is the 2nd to last game of the regular Season for the Sharks.

You can watch the game tonight on Versus.

While the Sharks have locked up the Pacific Division championship for the 5th time in 8 years; the Number 1 seed for the playoffs is still up for grabs.

Chicago is currently in first, tied with the Sharks, but they also have a game in hand.

That being said, I am hoping the Sharks come out firing tonight.

Sharks win 4 - 2.

Goals by Heatley, Marleau, Couture, and Setoguchi

UPDATE:

So I got home a little late from work tonight but I started watching the Game  at the start of the 2nd Period. I was very much overjoyed when I saw the Sharks were leading by a Goal after one period of play.

The game in general was very intense.  The Sharks played like they were built to play, they dominated the boards, the offensive zone, and weren't afraid to play the body when it was needed.  Half way through the 3rd period things took a very ugly turn into a penalty-fest.  It is believed that the Sharks set a new franchise record with the most players penalized at any one time.  Sharks had 6 guys in the box and 1 in the locker room.  Needless to say the penalty kill could only hold up for so long.

Vancouver was able to make things some what interesting but as I predicted the Sharks won 4-2.

The Western Conference Standings go as follows after tonights games:
  1. San Jose Sharks        - 111 pts (1 GR)
  2. Chicago Blackhawks- 109 pts (2 GR)
  3. Vancouver Canucks -  101 pts (1 GR)
  4. Phoenix Coyotes      -  106 pts (1 GR)
  5. LA Kings                 -   98 pts (2 GR)
  6. Detroit Red Wings   -   98 pts (2 GR)
  7. Nashville Predators  -   98 pts (1 GR)
  8. Colorado Avalanche-   94 pts (2 GR)

So the Sharks are currently set to play the Avs in the 1st round of the playoffs.  Nothing is set in stone yet though.  If the Blackhawks win out they will be #1.  If we win out we are.  It's nice to know that the games at the end of the season actually are going to mean something.  Last year the Sharks limped into the playoffs losing 2 of their final 3 games.  Or in other words the Sharks weren't ready to play Hockey when it matters most.

Next game is on Saturday against Phoenix.  Game Day Post will be made on Saturday.

Until next time...

Keep your Head Up and I'll see you "Over the Boards"
